Hello there! Smile

My name is Hero Boy, but I used to be 204. In recent events I have been, in a sense, evolving. Smile

I have been seeing a therapist twice a week now, and her and I were thinking I may have Dissociative Identity Disorder; formerly known as “Multiple Personality Disorder”, but I’m not so sure anymore.

I now realize that I’m just super sensitive to things. I believe this is because of an ongoing trauma I experienced for the last time about three years ago, and have been gradually recovering from ever since, and I think I’m finally starting to make some good headway.

Hero Boy is basically the more innocent, altruistic side of me who has a childlike curiosity and wonder of the world; he may appear a little naïve at times, but in the end he stays true to himself and doesn’t compromise his beliefs. He has really high standards, and sometimes he may try a little too hard to explain his reasoning, but he hardly ever gets angry at anyone. When challenged, he feels more confused than he does angry. He doesn’t really understand why people argue sometimes and when he “tries a little too hard to explain himself” people often get upset and argue with him or get mad with him which just confuses him and makes him feel dejected sometimes. Like I said…he’s pretty sensitive and childlike; a “Gentle Giant”.

Basically, what I realized is that due to my hypersensitivity, (and this is all just my theory), I am extremely open about myself and open to suggestion; so much so I’m even open to suggestion from my own self! So I hypothesized that in order to overcome 204, and all the other crazy stuff in my past, I had to create an Idea, to replace all that, and then, if my theory was correct, my mind would subconsciously attach it to myself, reprogramming my brain. It was risky, because for all I knew I could have been having a psychotic break or something; it’s been so hard to tell what’s real because I get episodes where I zone out and often things don’t feel real, like I’m dreaming or hallucinating but I’m not in reality. Since I’ve “reprogrammed” myself, a lot has settled down; like I’ve put a block on the bad stuff in me and replaced it with me, Hero Boy, a striving embodiment of virtue who fights against the forces of Evil and stands against Apathy and Oppression! (I’ve been a lot more enthusiastic lately too; it is a virtue after all, haha.) XD.

And I suppose with that, I shall conclude. Hope to hear from you! Smile

Hero Boy,

Welcome to the Heroes Network forum. One of us! Or, I guess in your case, and I say this with respect and admiration... Many of us! LOL

On a serious note, do you think it'll be to where you tend to go back and forth from 204 to Hero Boy, or do you think this is who you will be now?

I hope this is who I stay. I thought I was getting better but then 204 started taking dominance and when he brought a trench club on patrol is when I decided that maybe I should try intentionally creating an alter that's better than 204, and when it worked was when I realized that I think my mind is just hypersensitive and super open, even open to suggestions from it's own self so I can sort of reprogram my brain, and before it happened by accident, but I'm going to try and maintain it and I think after a while it really will just become who I am. I don't even know if it's a new Alter; when I switch to Hero Boy, it feels like LJ. Which is weird because he's the toddler, doesn't know a lick about how to defend himself and wouldn't hurt a fly. It's weird, when talking with the other me's my conscious is sort of split, in a weird way, I feel like LJ's father, like I actually worry about him (well, duh, if anything happens to him it happens to me, but you know what I mean.

So I told LJ he should come here and start off with the basics and to ask questions when he needs it and to not go out at night unless I say it's okay. So, pretty much "my little boy is growing up" I know! it's weird! But it really feels like that haha XD

Most of the time, I'd advise not letting a persona define you, but rather you define it. I don't know if that'd work so easily with the DID that you have though. But, only if it helps, it could be something to take in to consideration. Unless if what you have is something you find to be more helpful than a hindrance.

Yeah, I'm like that too; I don' like letting my personas define me, and in a way, technically, I do define them, haha. I'm thinking though that I'm just really sensitive to stuff and it's not DID, I only fit a few of the criterias; I'll talk with my therapist about it; she's like the Alfred to my Batman in a way haha.
