In this thread, I'd like to get a poll to see which of the following you're most interested in and/or have skills in. You can vote as little or as many as you'd like, BUT please explain which options you voted, and why. Whether it's something you're interested in learning, and why. Or if it's something you have skills in, and how skilled you are in such things.

I voted everything. But I'm in a position where I feel I need to.

Computer Security- The basic knowledge, but not like one of those super experts in this. Being the Admin of a forum like this, this one is a necessity for me.

Criminology- I've read a few books on Criminology, as well as taken a Criminology Course in College, and also done some online research about this as well.

Cryptology, Codes, Ciphers- Ever since I was a kid, I used to like solving cryptograms. It helped mold my mind in to thinking in terms of patterns, piecing together logical information to come up with the obvious conclusions.

Diplomacy, Peacemaking, Mediating- It's not a very easy one, and can't say that I'm anywhere near being the best at this, but, when ever I see any of my RLSH friends arguing with each other, I feel compelled to try to get them to make peace, because it's something that I understand the importance of.

Foreign Languages- I used to study Spanish in High School, for about a year or so. And when I was on Spanish TV, I spoke with a lot of spanish people who kind of refreshed some of my knowledge in speaking spanish, as well as having studied a little bit on my own. I briefly studied French, and picked that up very well. I learned very basic Japanese in one of my martial arts schools, and had also studied some of the basics not too long ago. I have an interest in learning as many languages as I can, especially with languages like Arabic, Russian, Mandarin Chinese, Korean, and so much more. This is one I have a high level of interest in, and can't strongly enough emphasize the importance of others in this community learning foreign languages. At least one extra language, but the more the better.

Forensics- I'm not as good with stuff like this, but still have some interest in it. I've read a few Forensics books, and did find it very interesting.

First Aid- I have some very basic first aid training from military school, the Marine Corps, and very little bit on my own.

Laws and Legalities- Aside from the little bit I've learned through online research and networking with this community, and also a little bit in my studies of Criminology, and through my years of experience of learning some of the obvious things, this isn't something I have a very extensively detailed knowledge of.

Leadership- Something I've always felt a passion for learning it, experiencing and accomplishing it, thus also teaching it. The tactics and strategies that Leaders need, as well as the knowledge and practice of good morals and ethics required to supplement the former. I have nearly a few decades of experience in Leadership, from the different Leadership books I've read, to the small superhero teams I led as a kid, to my time in military school (and the Leadership class I had taken there) and the Marine Corps, to my time in the RLSH Community and various Leadership positions I've held over the years since it's creation, the things I've accomplished. The Leadership traits I've analyzed in others, and sought to be able to form my own version of it, which I constantly find the ways to share my vision with others.

Martial Arts- I do have years of training and experience in learning Martial Arts. I've learned from different Sensei's at different Martial Arts Schools, and also the military. I was even at the point to where I felt as though I had a good enough understanding in martial arts to where I was even able to learn from videos. My styles I try not to advertise too much, but will help do my part to train others who need it.

Paranormal- Oh yeah, just take a look at some of my posts in the Paranormal Section. You'll see what I'm talking about with that. Or, go look in to one of my old blogs from earlier last year, when I spoke about the Oracle Team. If you want, just ask me about that some time. Or the things I've studied that has to do with the Paranormal.

Philosophies and Ethics- I enjoyed reading some of the philosophy books that discuss some of the fictional superheroes, and they opened up my mind in many ways, taught me many valuable lessons about looking at the rights and wrongs of the behaviors, personalities, and actions, of the superheroes, so that you have a deeper understanding not just of what to think, but also how to think, also.

Physical Fitness, Health, Nutrition- I have spent some years working out, both on my own and from military school and the Marine Corps, to also studying this too, so that I have a better understanding of this.

Private Investigating- I haven't studied this too extensively, but it is something I have interest in.

Psychology- I just have a little bit of knowledge in this, some of which I learned in Criminology, some of which people taught me things that they knew about psychology, and also my own observations of people.

Strategies and Tactics- Anyone who has read my 10 Patrolling Tactics, knows that I have some knowledge in this area. I don't know it all when it comes to this kind of thing, but what I do know, I know well. I'm very interested in learning this kind of stuff more. And yes, this stuff can involve learning about those Worst Case Scenarios, and then preparing how to deal with them if they ever happen.

Weapons, Armor, Gadgets- If you've seen the things I have you'll see that I have an interest in Martial Arts Weapons and I also understand the importance of having armor. As far as gadgets go, I've got some good ones as well. I don't have that type of knowledge of how to make and fix such technologies, but I do know how to use some of them.

Other- I like to read all kinds of things, some might not think that Star Wars books can be helpful, but I like to think that the things I've learned from those books taught me something valuable. I like to Network with others, and help others network with others, too. I also make a really good Tothian Pizza.

Computer Security- I've been highly interested in computers since I was nine. I've used Windows 32, 98, WP, and 7, as well as a MAC and Linux. I also have experience with website design HTML, and some server work. I also plan on creating a new social network.

Criminology- I'm still studying this.

Cryptology, Codes, Ciphers- I like solving cryptograms, it's fun.

Diplomacy, Peacemaking, Mediating- I really wish that people would get along better. I'm willing to help out with it.

Foreign Languages- I've studied some Spanish, and a little Japanese.

Forensics- I am highly interested in Forensics, I've read a couple books, and would really like to get into it more.

First Aid- I studied it years ago. I should really learn the new CPR, but at least I can use what I learned.

Laws and Legalities- Well, you kinda have to know what's legal and not, you know?

Leadership- Well, I am an admin of this site, and so I have to know leadership in order to do it well.

Martial Arts- Of course.

Paranormal, Supernatural- Just look at what I've posted in the Paranormal Section.

Philosophies and Ethics- I've read some books on philosophy.

Physical Fitness, Health, Nutrition- I've studied all this in High School, as well as afterwards.

Private Investigating- I've always been interested in spy work and bounty hunting.

Psychology- I've taken a class, and also independent study.

Strategies and Tactics- Video games can be educational as well as fun.

Weapons, Armor, Gadgets- I would like to create gadgets some day, I've been learning electronics.

Other- I would really like to improve my art skills, as well as video editing skills. I've read some Star Wars books, too. And I know how to make some really good ShowStopper Coffee.

Oh - IDK if I'd be able to get the "Vote Cancelling" allowed. I thought it was allowed on the forum, I don't know yet if it goes by the thread though. You'd be allowed to cancel your current vote and then re-vote.

If not, you could always just list each of those options that applies to you, and talk about how knowledgeable or skilled you are in those areas and how much, or how interested you are in learning about them.

Hey, I saw in that picture you put in your introduction, that you have a list of things classified as "Other" - good stuff, you should post about them here.

Computer Security : I have very little experience in this, but it'd good to learn more

Criminology : I have family in the police force so I learned some through osmosis I guess

Diplomacy, Peacemaking, Mediating : some of the best skills for a hero to have

Foreign Languages : I've picked up small amounts of a couple different languages over the years, but the only language that really has stuck other then English is German

Forensics :I know what you can find on TV... that's seriously about it unfortunately

Laws and Legalities :Very good to know... don't need to get arrested while trying to help others... very good to keep yourself up to date

Martial Arts :My fighting experience has come more from the school yard then any real style

Paranormal, Supernatural : Kind of a small obsession of mine truth be told... I have some knowledge in most aspects I can currently think of

Psychology :always good to know why people do what they do so you can work accordingly

Strategies and Tactics :along the same lines as psych

Weapons, Armor, Gadgets :aside from super human powers I have no access to, tech is what separates us from what I guess you can call civilians (don't know how else to put it)... Whether its a mask, body armor, or some crazy grappling hook gun, these are what keep us safe doing what others won't

yea your right,one thing I mentioned was job skills. believe it or not? I think alot of jobs can train you things,you could use such as: BUILDING THINGS,DRIVING THINGS & so on... so yea thanks for pointing that out.

well im kinda skilled in everything on my list but more so with airsoft but i think it wouldnt hurt me to lean more as i am not a master at some these on my list yet

That is good to learn - very important for anyone who wishes to patrol. However, that's only half the training needed to make someone effective. Some type of knowledge to be studied is also very important, and can be very useful too. There is no official rule or guideline that says what that is - as if anything that's up to you - this is only my own personal advice to you, based on my own personal experience, and also the things I've learned from my studies as well.

The physical and mental. What ever that is for each person, is up to them. But, the physical aspect, it's up to that person if they want to focus more on being more acrobatic and being faster, or if they want to build more muscle and be stronger, or how mixed they wish to be of the two. Then, there's the mental aspect (for lack of a better word) where there's the knowledge and skills. Not saying everyone has to be a genius, but, at least trying to learn what we can about things, is better than not learning what we can. Things listed here in this poll are just some ideas. Perhaps there's other things you're good at, things you might not even realize that it could be useful in some way, something you either know a lot about, or a skill you have.

Even if it is just martial arts that you're mainly focused on - and if you're happy with just that - there's a book that does focus on the wisdom aspect of martial arts - called Zen in the Martial Arts. I picked what I'm probably strongest at, instead of everything I'm familiar with dabbled in. So I'd rather that people think something I didn't select is a weak area. But there are some things I'm either naturally better at or just more interested in.

For instance, I'd rather use diplomacy to avoid a fight than get into one. You know what I mean?

Geist - It is your choice to vote what you deem most important to you - so that part is alright. As far as people thinking less of you - we're not here to judge you or think less of you - this Heroes Network exists to make sure that you have a place to feel accepted and appreciated for both your good and bad traits. For example, there's things I've never really been good at - like technological science, many things when it comes to medical stuff, and certain areas I'm not too knowledgeable or skilled in. I do have this place so that others who are knowledgeable in such things, could teach me things and at least some of the easier to remember and important stuff, I'll be able to learn from. But certain things I wouldn't consider myself someone who could teach a class in that, as much as I could teach people about other things I'm more knowledgeable at.

Like, for example, I know about certain things when it comes to Physical Training, Martial Arts, Criminology, Cryptology - as far as Cryptology goes, there are many forms of it but I'm not good at the really advanced stuff, but as far as Cryptograms, I've been pretty good at the ones I've had the chance to try to solve - and I enjoyed them. There's other forms of cryptology that I'm not very good at and can't comprehend very easily, yet. But I'm interested in learning more.

If we all learn each other's strengths and weaknesses, we can better learn who we can learn from someone with such & such skill, or use their help if and when needed be - as well as know that if someone is interested in learning about a particular subject, they know that there's someone who they could put their skills in to good use by helping them out.

And because of that - and what I know of you - I've always suspected that you could possibly secretly be some type of 10th degree blackbelt, and then not telling anyone about it. Many advanced martial artists would avoid a fight if they can help it, even to the point of damaging any pride they have, because to many of them, they view their life and the lives of others more important than pride. In my years of martial arts studies, it's something I've slowly grown to understand over time - in SOME ways. However, in some other ways, there's a trait I have, which, it could be a flaw in some ways, in other ways it could be symbolic of something more important, but I do believe in trying to protect people when and where I can. I do believe in a sense of dignity, and don't want people to think that they can just threaten a person and that it will get them what they want. I believe that to be a counterproductive message to bad guys - but just my own message, at least. I can't speak for everyone.

Foreign languages - i speak English, Portuguese, Spanish

Martial arts - i practiced Capoeira and Parkour

Stategies - i plan everything i do before i do it and it works 8/10 times

Weapens, Armor, Gadgets - i make all the weapens and gadgets and i use design all my suits
